Cultureflux.com
offers an insider's look at art, culture and entertainment in DC.
Our team of talented writers is dedicated to uncovering the most
scintillating and often unheralded events and trends in the city.
Whether it's a provocative new art space, a stylish boutique, an
up-and-coming musician, or an undiscovered artist, you'll read about
it on Cultureflux.com.
Founded in March
2002 by Sacha Cohen, an editor, writer, and
long-time DC resident, Cultureflux.com was originally conceived
as a way for people to learn about both mainstream and non-mainstream
art and entertainment in the city through an interactive
email list. However, growing demand for more in-depth information
and opinions prompted Cohen to create an online magazine to satisfy
an audience hungry for more than what conventional outlets have
to offer.
Founder
Sacha Cohen,
Cultureflux.com's founder and editorial director, has worked in
print and online publishing for the past decade. Sacha began her
career at the Cahners Publishing Company in Chicago in 1992, writing
and editing for a group of furniture design magazines. Deeming the
Chicago winters unbearable, she returned to Washington, DC, in 1995,
just as the Internet was taking hold.
Beginning in
1996, Sacha wrote a column about the Internet and its impact on
the workplace for Training & Development magazine. Not
satisfied merely writing about the dotcom world, she went to work
for enews.com as an editor, producer, and strategic partnership
manager. Working with such industry giants as Excite and Yahoo!,
Sacha helped position enews.com as the leading magazine subscription
service on the Web.
After leaving
enews.com in late 1998, Sacha started her own writing and content
development business. Her articles and columns have appeared in
The Washington Post, USA Today online, New York Magazine,
Fast Company, UPI, Oxygen, and many other print and online publications.
Sacha was also the Web Career Expert for Monster.com and a career
columnist for Kiplinger.com. In addition to feature writing, Sacha
works with a variety of non-profit and for-profit clients to help
them develop Web site content and strategy
Sacha received
a BA in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
