Submission
Guidelines
Thanks for your
interest in contributing to Cultureflux.com. Here's some information
about how to submit your work.
Writers
Cultureflux.com
welcomes original editorial submissions. We prefer to receive a
quick email pitch about the type of story you are interested in
writing rather than the full manuscript. Pitches should be sent
to: editorial@cultureflux.com.
Please submit all material in the body of the email as text or a
link; attachments *will not* be opened. Please put "EDITORIAL
SUBMISSION" in the subject line of the email.
Subjects that
we cover: DC area art, culture, and entertainment, including
theater, club, restaurant, art and music reviews; events; fashion
and style trends; and profiles of up-and-coming artists. Please
look at the
site closely to get a sense of the style and tone of our content.
We do not
accept fiction or poetry at this time.
We'd also like
to know a little about you--your experience and background as
a writer and qualifications for writing a particular story. Please
include
clips as links or in the body of the email if you have them.
While we try
to respond to all inquiries, this is not always possible. If
you have not heard back from us after three weeks, please assume
that we
will not be able to use your idea or submission.
Artists and
Photographers
We
are always looking for exemplary work to exhibit in the Cultureflux.com
gallery.
If you are interested,
please use the following guidelines:
Submit
a short bio and/or CV to editorial@cultureflux.com,
detailing your experience and where you have shown your work. You
may also include an artist statement. All material should be in
the body of the email. Attachments, other than the digital images,
will not be accepted.
Send two digital images that are representative of the work
that you
would like to show. All images must be submitted in JPEG format
(scan at
least 500 wide, 150 dpi). Images should be sent via email. Please
include
captions and dates with all material.
Please put "PHOTO SUBMISSION" in the body of the
email.
Artists and photographers should be residents of DC, MD,
or VA.
Additional notes:
All material is reviewed by Cultureflux.com's editorial panel.
We are
sorry, but we cannot return submissions.
You will be notified by email if we decide to use your material.
You must own the copyright to the material.
Once work is
selected for the gallery, the hanging fee for individual artists
is $50 (payable in advance) for six months, which includes one month
of premium space on the gallery page with up to three images, along
with a bio, link to your Web site or phone number so people may
contact you directly if they are interested in purchasing your work.
After that, your pieces will be archived off the main gallery page,
by name, for five additional months along with other artists who
have been in the gallery over the last six months.
Gallery owners
should contact us directly if they are interested in
showcasing their artists in the gallery: info@cultureflux.com
