FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (UPDATE)

October 4, 2002

Cultureflux.com Presents a Multi-arts Extravaganza

Come celebrate the biggest, boldest issue of Cultureflux yet on Wednesday October 16, from 6:30-9:30, at the 18th Street Lounge. Launched in June 2002, the online magazine is quickly becoming DC's most unique source for art, culture, entertainment, and commentary.

This not-to-be missed event will bring together the best and brightest from DC's creative community, including artists, actors, creative directors, gallery owners, arts patrons, musicians, photographers, writers, and more! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to WPA\Corcoran and another local arts organization (TBD).

Event highlights:

  • Special appearance by Transistor Recording artist Aubergine 3, an electronica group that mixes drum 'n' bossa, ambient breakbeat, and deep lounge funk
  • An artist showcase presented by the Washington Project for the Arts\Corcoran, which will feature a dynamic mix of work from some of the best established artists in the region, as well as a number of the area's brightest new art talents
  • Music by world-renowned 18th Street Lounge DJ, Ou.
  • Raffle to win tickets from Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth, and Folger Theatre
  • Delicious treats from Sticky Fingers Bakery and CakeLove
  • Products giveaways from Bethesda-based Honest Tea and Silver Spring-based Soap Rolls from What Fun, Inc.
  • Drink specials, including the soon-to-be famous “Cultureflux Martini.”

The lead sponsor for the event is Conner Contemporary Art, a gallery located in Dupont Circle that exhibits contemporary work in all media by established and emerging artists.

More than 300 people are expected to attend, including representatives from the area’s most prominent art and culture organizations (The Phillips Collection, Studio Theater, Arena Stage, the Corcoran, the Hirshhorn, and the Smithsonian, to name a few). Cost to attend is $20 before October 15 and $25 at the door. To be added to the press list, please contact events@cultureflux.com.
