Presents a Multi-arts Extravaganza
Come celebrate
the biggest, boldest issue of Cultureflux yet on Wednesday October
16, from 6:30-9:30, at the 18th Street Lounge. Launched in June
2002, the online magazine is quickly becoming DC's most unique source
for art, culture, entertainment, and commentary.
This not-to-be
missed event will bring together the best and brightest from DC's
creative community, including artists, actors, creative directors,
gallery owners, arts patrons, musicians, photographers, writers,
and more! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to WPA\Corcoran
and another local arts organization (TBD).
Event highlights:
- Special
appearance by Transistor Recording artist Aubergine 3, an electronica
group that mixes drum 'n' bossa, ambient breakbeat, and deep lounge
funk
- An artist
showcase presented by the Washington Project for the Arts\Corcoran,
which will feature a dynamic mix of work from some of the best
established artists in the region, as well as a number of the
area's brightest new art talents
- Music by
world-renowned 18th Street Lounge DJ, Ou.
- Raffle to
win tickets from Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth, and Folger Theatre
- Delicious
treats from Sticky Fingers Bakery and CakeLove
- Products
giveaways from Bethesda-based Honest Tea and Silver Spring-based
Soap Rolls from What Fun, Inc.
- Drink specials,
including the soon-to-be famous “Cultureflux Martini.”
The lead sponsor
for the event is Conner Contemporary Art, a gallery located
in Dupont Circle that exhibits contemporary work in all media by
established and emerging artists.
More than 300
people are expected to attend, including representatives from the
area’s most prominent art and culture organizations (The Phillips
Collection, Studio Theater, Arena Stage, the Corcoran, the Hirshhorn,
and the Smithsonian, to name a few). Cost to attend is $20 before
