FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Online Magazine for DC Art, Entertainment, and Culture Debuts

Washington, DC - June 2002 --- Washington, DC, welcomes a savvy new online magazine for art, style, and culture. Cultureflux.com, launching in June 2002, is quickly becoming the leading online destination for people who want to know what's happening in local film, art, music, theater, style, and fashion before it hits the mainstream. More than 370 people have already signed up for the cultureflux email list, which is filled with tips and information on what's going on in DC's creative community.

"This magazine fills a real need in the city, centralizing information on mainstream and alternative culture. More than that, cultureflux.com will be the place for buzz -- to find out what's worth checking out and what's not," says Sacha Cohen, cultureflux.com's founder.

Ms. Cohen, a long-time DC resident and writer has been involved with other event and publishing initiatives in both DC's media and technology communities. Her extensive contacts in both of those communities will be an asset to growing cultureflux.com and helping it meet the needs of an audience hungry for smart, insightful commentary and reviews.

Designed as both an insider's guide to the city and an information source for sophisticated visitors, cultureflux.com offers a beneath-the-surface look at what's happening in the nation's capital.

Cultureflux.com boasts an accomplished team of writers, designers, and photographers who have all contributed their time and talent to this exciting grassroots project.

The site launch will include a profile of Leigh Conner of Conner Contemporary Art; a review of Bar Rouge; a look at new photography at Kathleen Ewing and Govinda galleries; several theater reviews; the secret life of a theater intern; and much more. Cultureflux.com will also feature an interactive calendar of events and an exclusive online gallery of work by MD-based photographer Michael Bonfigli, who is renowned for evocative and captivating images of Cuba and Argentina.

The online magazine is a companion to cultureflux's other community-building projects, which include a lively, interactive online discussion forum and special cultureflux-sponsored events including cocktail parties, film screenings, literary salons, gallery openings, and more. Already established in the DC event planning community, Cohen has hosted a number of highly successful private parties over the past few years at area hotspots including the 18th Street Lounge, Tryst, Spy Lounge, and Ozio. Her most recent cultureflux event, "Manic Music Monday," held at the popular Aroma Bar in Cleveland Park, drew an eclectic group of music aficionados, artists, writers, and others who spent the evening enjoying drink specials and swapping CDs.
