Fashionistas meet their match at an Adams Morgan boutique.

By Lonnie Shekhtman

Daisy, "a unique girly boutique" in Adams Morgan, offers cosmopolitan women "fun, workable" styles that look great in the office as well as on a night out on the town, says co-owner Fabiana Mesquita. You won't find peasant shirts or ethnic prints here, but you will find great, chunky sweaters, pin stripes, lots of denim and great accessories.

The nearly two-year-old boutique, whose bright walls are adorned with colorful and flowery art by the local artist Ali Oliver, carries designer labels that aren't light on the pocketbook.

Besides T-shirts and accessories, you won't find anything under $100 here. But if you're looking for a refreshing and relaxing shopping experience, and styles you'll find in few other places in this city, you'll want to pick this Daisy.

Daisy thoughtfully provides a parking place for spare males.

Ladies, bring your boyfriends. They can sit and wait on the colorful "Boyfriend Bench (yes dear, for you)" while you hit the racks.

What you'll find: Daisy gets shipments of brand new merchandise almost every day, and recently began carrying the sassy Italian line Miss Sixty. You'll find West Coast-inspired styles, lots of colors, handbags, jewelry, belts, watches and a few Kai products. Designers such as Michael Stars, Jill Stuart, Cynthia Rowley, Susana Monaco, Diane von Furstenberg, Beth Bowley and Johnny Farah fill out the selection. Daisy also carries Paper Denim & Cloth jeans, Earl Jean, Free People, Polli Says and Theory.

Hot Trends: Peasant is out and everything brown is in for fall, says Mesquita. Also, tailored pants, pinstripes, shawls and wraps are must-haves.

Customer Raves: Customers can't get enough of anything by Paper Denim & Cloth, Theory, Diane von Furstenberg and Miss Sixty. Michael Stars T-shirts ($36) are especially popular, with each shipment flying out of the store quicker than it can be unpacked.

Insider Faves: Diane von Furstenberg's wrap dresses (starting at $200), especially ones with ruching on the side, are Mesquita's favorite, as they flatter and conceal. January and July are the only months you'll see sales at Daisy, so mark your calendars, because you can find discounts of up to 30% to 60% on some items.

Lonnie Shekhtman is a recent college grad who is sick of people asking whether she’s found a job yet. Isn’t it depressing enough that she’s only able to afford Mocha Coconut Frappuccinos by scrounging for change in her couch cushions and the back seat of her car?
